The first and only commercially available Ca(OH)? crystals were grown using float zone synthesis technique to yield perfectly layered, large size, highly crystalline vdW layered crystals. Ca(OH)2 crystals exhibit ~4 eV direct gap and is considered 2D widegap material with exciting applications in photonics, optoelectronics, and high power devices.

Sample size: ~5-8 mm or larger
Crystal symmetry and Space group: P-3m1
Nature: Layered crystal; can be isolated to monolayers rather easily
Band gap: ~4.5 eV (bulk) monolayer behavior unknown
Purity: Semiconductor grade (6N) 99.9999%
